Mental Models and Personal Paradigms –
    The Stories We Tell Ourselves

Join us as Dr. Dean Steward, Executive Director with the Center for Exceptional Leadership St. Norbert College, presents Mental Models and Personal Paradigms – The Stories We Tell Ourselves.  Our mental models are valuable generalizations that help us all make meaning of situations. However, most of us don't realize how deeply rooted these are and how they impact our understanding and decision making. Many times, our mental models prevent us from thinking creatively and serve as a barrier to change. Strengthen your leadership effectiveness by challenging your own mental models and personal paradigms.

Dean Stewart joined the college in 2018 as the executive director of the Center for Exceptional Leadership in the Schneider School of Business & Economics at St Norbert College. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from St. Norbert College with a minor in history; his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh; and his Doctor of Education from the University of Wisconsin - Stout.

Dr. Stewart’s career has spanned both the public and private sector. Beginning in sales and marketing, his path led him into operations and ultimately a number of senior leadership positions with organizations in industries as diverse as information technology, building materials, renewables and higher education.  He has served as a strategic leadership consultant to organizations such as the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Builders Association, Marion Body Works, Oral Health Partnership, Options for Independent Living, Insight Creative and the Brown County Home Builders Association.
